This module offers a structured, self-correcting assessment system designed to help learners identify their current Dutch language level in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The assessment is accompanied by a speaking exam, for which you need to confirm your participation in the final question. You will then be contacted by info@linguadutch.com to discuss further planning.

How does it work?

Through a series of automatically graded tests, learners receive immediate feedback on their performance across key language skills, including vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and functional language use. The module is designed as a diagnostic and advisory tool, enabling learners to gain insight into their current level and receive guidance on the most appropriate next steps in their learning journey.

It is important to note that this module does not provide an official certification of language level. Learners who wish to obtain a formally recognised certificate are encouraged to contact us directly to receive information about official examinations and certification pathways.

The assessments are carefully constructed around real-life communicative contexts and thematic progression, reflecting authentic language use across levels A1 to B2. Topics include personal introductions, daily life, social interaction, professional communication, and abstract discussion, ensuring that evaluation goes beyond isolated grammar knowledge and focuses on meaningful language use .

Each test is designed to:

  • Provide instant, automated correction and feedback
  • Offer level-based recommendations for further study
  • Support flexible entry points into language learning trajectories
  • Encourage learner autonomy and self-reflection

The module follows a progressive structure, where tasks increase in complexity from basic survival communication (A1) to independent and nuanced language use (B2). This progression mirrors communicative development found in structured learning paths, where learners move from simple interactions to more complex discussions and professional contexts .

By combining pedagogical coherence, CEFR alignment, and adaptive feedback, this module enables learners to make informed decisions about their learning journey and supports institutions in offering targeted, efficient language training.

The A1 level is designed for beginners who want to start learning Dutch in a clear and structured way.

The level consists of two modules of 60 hours each. Through a combination of guided sessions and online learning activities, learners gradually develop their first communication skills in Dutch.

During this level, learners learn to:

  • introduce themselves and meet new people

  • talk about daily routines and simple personal information

  • ask and answer basic questions in everyday situations

  • handle practical situations such as shopping or using public transport

  • understand simple instructions and short messages

The course focuses on building confidence in speaking and understanding Dutch in everyday situations, while also introducing basic communication used in workplace environments.

We make use of TU-Delftse Methode as a baseline of our course.

The A2 level helps learners expand their basic Dutch skills and communicate more independently in everyday situations.

This level consists of two modules of 60 hours each, combining structured online learning through our platform, with guided learning moments and practical language exercises.

During this level, learners develop the ability to:

  • participate in simple conversations about daily activities and experiences

  • understand and exchange information in familiar situations

  • read short texts such as messages, announcements and simple emails

  • write short messages or practical information

  • communicate in basic professional situations

Learners gradually become more comfortable using Dutch in both familiar and less familiar contexts, strengthening their ability to function in daily life and on the workplace.

We make use of TU-Delftse Methode as a baseline of our course.

The B1 level focuses on developing more independent communication skills in Dutch.

The level consists of two modules of 60 hours each and combines online learning activities with guided sessions that focus on interaction, speaking practice and feedback.

During this level, learners learn to:

  • participate in conversations about work, experiences and personal interests

  • understand the main ideas of clear spoken and written communication

  • express opinions and describe events or plans

  • interact more confidently in professional situations

  • handle practical communication in the workplace

By the end of this level, learners are able to function more independently in social, administrative and professional contexts.

The B2 level focuses on developing advanced communication skills and greater fluency in Dutch.

This module of 60 hours helps learners refine their language use and participate more actively in complex conversations and professional contexts.

During this level, learners develop the ability to:

  • understand longer and more complex texts and discussions

  • express ideas and opinions clearly and in detail

  • participate actively in discussions and professional communication

  • write structured messages, emails and reports

  • communicate effectively in a variety of social and professional situations

The B2 level prepares learners to use Dutch confidently and independently in both professional and everyday environments.

B2+ Refinement Module

For learners who reach or exceed the expected B2 outcomes, Lingua Dutch offers an additional B2+ refinement module (60 hours).

This module focuses on language refinement and accuracy, helping learners further improve their:

  • pronunciation and fluency

  • grammatical precision

  • idiomatic language use

  • professional and academic communication

  • stylistic variation in spoken and written Dutch

The B2+ module allows learners to consolidate their Dutch at a high level and develop greater linguistic precision and confidence in complex professional environments.
